Leprechauns, Cowboys, Cowgirls, and Horses Delight Crowds at Halloween Parade

Fairfax4Horses greeted enthusiastic crowds gathered along Maple Street for the annual Vienna Halloween Parade held on October 24th.  Always a parade favorite, our group of 28 humans included cowboys and girls, leprechauns, and a wheelbarrow scoop-up team, all of whom were either walking, riding in the hay wagon, or riding on of the six horses.

Ten Years of Advocacy

Fairfax4Horses, a local non-profit equestrian organization, is celebrating its tenth year of advocacy on behalf of the equestrian community in Fairfax County and Northern Virginia.  Thanks to the efforts of Fairfax4Horses in partenership with the Fairfax County Park Authority (FCPA) and Fairfax County Park Foundation (FCPF), specifications for bids will be issued shourtly to construct an outdoor ring and parking lot on a 60-avre area of Laurel Hill Park that has been set aside for an equestrian center.  The ring will provide a venue for schooling shows and other events.  "We are pleased that our partnership with the Park Authority and Park Foundation and the dedication of our supporters have brought us to this point," said Beverly Dickerson, president of Fairfax4Horses.

Fairfax4Horses, a local non-profit equestrian organization that is celebrating its tenth year of advocacy on behalf of the equestrian community in Fairfax County and Northern Virginia, opposes a detrimental bypass proposal for Route 1 improvements that would divide the property and facilities of Woodlawn Stables.

Smithsonian Institution Hosts the Horse

The Smithsonian Institute will be opening a traveling exhibit on October 29, 2011 in conjunction with the Washington International Horse Show.  The exhibit, visiting from the Heye Center in New York, is a critically acclaimed exhibition exploring the relationship between Native Americans and horses.

New Stables Open at Frying Pan Park with a Whinny and a Neigh

Members of the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors, the Fairfax County Park Authority Board and the Founders, Benefactors, Supervisors and Friends of Frying Pan Farm Park joined park staff, equestrian enthusiasts and community members for a ribbon cutting ceremony marking the official opening of new equestrian facilities at Frying Pan Farm Park on Saturday, May 22, 2010.
